$12 Million Per Win

Well, another sad chapter in Mets history ended as Ollie Perez was given his walking papers. So what did the Mets get for their $36 million? A 3-9 record with a 1.985 WHIP and an ERA of 6.81. To put that in perspective, the Mets paid $12 million for each of his wins. He wouldn’t take a minor league assignment with the Mets but he jumped at the chance to sign a minor league deal with the Nationals. In traditional Mets fashion, this could be what’s required to bring out the CY Young in him. Doubt it. Good riddance. But enough of Ollie. The sooner we Mets’ fans can forget him the better. Now only one of Omar Minaya’s big three under-performing contracts remains: Carlos Beltran’s. It’s just a matter of time.

About The Baseball Stadium Connoisseur

To me baseball has been a passion ever since I saw my first game at age 7, at Yankee Stadium (It's still hard for me to accept that). At age 8, I saw my first game at Shea Stadium and have been a New York Mets fan ever since. Although my loyalties are pledged to the Mets, I am, in general, a big fan of the great game of baseball.
